FROM DRY LAND, TO THE OCEAN’S DEPTHS, T&T HAS YOU COVERED.

HISTORY

After serving in the U.S. Army and working as a machinist for both Marine Machine Works and Todd Shipyard, Rudy Teichman decided it was time to control his own destiny. Thus, in 1957, he established T&T Marine Ways, Inc.

At its start, the company was a small shipyard on Teichman Point in Galveston, Texas. It consisted of a dock for small vessel work, a machine shop and a small dredge. Later came a marine railway for dry repairs on small vessels. In 1960, Rudy bought a sunken wooden tug named M/V JOSEPHINE. He re-floated and rebuilt the tug in order to provide towing services in the area. In 1961 Hurricane Carla struck Galveston, destroying the shipyard. Though a devastating blow, Rudy fought back. By 1964, he was expanding again, hiring more employees and building bigger, better facilities and vessels.

In 1966 Rudy married Donna and would spend the rest of his life with her. Together they continued to build upon the earlier successes of the business. Between 1967 and 1975, they would have three children who would all grow up in the family business.

Recognizing the need for salvage equipment along the Texas Coast, Rudy started T&T Marine Salvage, Inc. Using little more than ingenuity and experience, he raised sunken boats and barges. In 1976, he bought a steam crane with a capacity of 75 tons.
